This year started off on a different note to the one we have now. In fact, most people had high hopes; with the aim of breaking new grounds in their personal, business, or academic life. Halfway through the year, lives have been put on hold and many loss, jobs and careers have been ended or changed forever, and several businesses have closed their doors of operation permanently. There is no need to play the blame game, we all still must push and press onward with our heads held up high above our shoulders.

Yes, in the midst of uncertainty, loss, grieving, hurt, turbulent unrest, anxiety, stress, frustration, exhaustion, and more for many — there is a question we all have to courageously answer... "It's Mid-Year, Now Where Are You Headed?"

Let's take a look at the big Mid-Year picture right now:

Your life's Compass going forward

For all goal setters and go-getters, this year has not been a pleasant one. Dynamic minded individuals have faced a major obstacle in the form of lockdown restrictions placed on all forms of activities.

A compass always turns back up to the direction upon which it has been set regardless of the direction the holder is facing. Have an end game. Going forward, you need to be sensitive to the opportunities and events that lead to your destination. Commitment and dedication are important to ensure that you stay true to your compass. It keeps you from chasing distractions and going on a fortuitous wild goose chase.

David Starr Jordan, Ph.D. says, "The world stands aside to let anyone pass who knows where he is going." This is applicable to us all. Sound direction is key to success in any case. You need focus to stay on the path to where you are headed. Once you've obtained clarity and confidence in your journey, you will gain a better perception of what you need to do to get set tasks and goals done.

Your Vision going forward

The issue of vision encompasses the realm of foresight, prediction, and total faith. Henceforth, you need to know where you are headed. It serves as your guidance system. The reason to do what you do. Visualize your purpose/vision and imagine yourself at the end of the year. Your vision for the year might be somewhat dimmed now but it is not too late to resuscitate your vision. For the vision that was on a time leash, you can develop new ones while some might require slight modifications to suit the current events. In developing a clear and concise vision going forward, answer the following questions:

- Where do you want to be?
- How much do you want to have developed as an individual or an organization?
- How much success do you want to record by the end of the year?
- How far do you want to go in accomplishing your mission?

Your Personal Goals going forward

It is important for you to get a grip on reality and grab it by its horns leading it on to a path that suits you best. First, you need to realize that you are probably not going to be able to achieve the goals you set at the start of the year in the manner you originally outlined. The importance of personal goals cannot be overemphasized:

    1. Personal goals give you a fighting chance at realizing your vision. You set goals based on what you have visualized. These set goals are aligned to produce results in aspects of your life such as career, finance, personal development, skill development, your social life, and physical development.
    2. Personal goals aid you in establishing an engaging daily routine. It is of prime importance to people who are set to achieve success in their daily lives. There is a continuous streak of happiness in the lives of those that set personal goals and achieve them per time. It serves as a one-way elevator towards achieving your vision and the only way is up.

There is no better time than the present to create and set a plan in motion that will yield you desired results. Your desired results should always remain at the head of every effort and action you take. Your plan of action for your life's Compass, Vision, and Goals will show you where you are headed and the manner in which you are supposed to focus your time and energy to get your there in your personal and professional life. The proof of your deeds will produce the resilience and outcomes you need to continuously grow and succeed on your life's journey going forward.
