With the New Year finally here, the desire to become more productive, healthier and successful comes to mind. As we reflect on last year, many of us ask ourselves “what things will I do better or improve on this year?”

On that note, here are five ways you can make 2017 your best productive and successful year yet.

1. Stop the Habit of Making Excuses

The habit of making excuses is a big one to a lot of people. They always have that habit of blaming someone or something because of the delay in achieving their goals. This year, start with admitting to yourself that where you are right now is not because of other people but of the decisions you made. Do not wait until tomorrow to start following your dreams for there is never a perfect time to start than today.

2. Your Goals Should Have Deadlines Attached to Them

One reason why your dreams remain dreams is because it is not your goal. In order to make it your goal and so you can achieve it in timely fashion, it needs to have a deadline. This will serve as a motivation for you to pursue your dreams and turn it into a reality. It’s also best to create meaningful goals that will inspire and empower you to stay focus and consistent as you work them through to accomplishment.

3. Work on Jobs or Projects You Are Passionate About

If you truly want a fulfilling and successful 2017, start by doing what you love. It’s always been the big point in being fulfilled – doing what you love. At the same time, it will help you in breaking the habit of always making excuses since you won’t make one if you are passionate with your job. Begin with year with projects you love so you can enjoy them every step of the way.

4. Learn to Categorize and Make Priorities

One reason many people fail to achieve their goals each year is because they do not make priorities and fail to categorize what job needs to be done. You flail around doing what’s in front of you even when there’s a job that needs your focus right now. Because of that, productivity is reduced and you fail to accomplish what you set out to do. In 2017, you need to learn the beauty of categorizing and making priorities, writing them down, sticking to them, and how this consistent habit will help you to succeed again-and-again.

5. Be More Compassionate, Flexible and Resilient

Being more compassionate is to accept that no matter how organized you are or how planned your day is, there are things that are bound to go the wrong way and it’s not your fault. You are only human and there will be stupid days when nothing just seems to go right. During times like this, instead of sinking into negativity and beating yourself up, being compassionate, flexible and resilient will help you to forgive yourself, let go of perfection, adjust to the situation, find your course, and try again.
